Communicate and Connect is one of Inclusive Jordan’s key projects, focused on integrating deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals into Jordanian society—one of the most marginalized and underserved communities in the country.
The program began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when communication barriers for the deaf community became more severe. In response, we launched a Facebook group bringing together deaf individuals from across the Arab region and hearing individuals, to foster meaningful connections and promote inclusive communication.
Through the group, we shared structured educational videos and hosted live sessions to teach sign language, encouraging hearing people to learn directly from the deaf community. The initiative attracted over 6,300 organic members, including most of Jordan’s licensed sign language interpreters.
